French Writing Center: Clothing and Colors
Having students describe what someone is wearing is a very common task when teaching French clothing vocabulary.
What if you could add a digital twist to this activity while adding a reading and writing component to it?
That’s what I’m writing about in this post.
I’ve created a set of digital Boom cards that allow your students to choose the color of the pieces of clothing the characters in the cards are wearing.
I think it’s easier for you to watch it in action instead of reading my description 😉
Check out the video below:
Students read the prompts (that’s the reading component of the activity!), then choose the colors.
Once the characters are ready, students should write about what the boy or girl in the cards is wearing.
And that’s where the writing component comes in.
I’ve included differentiated printables for you to use with your students.
Students will:
- color the character the way they turned out in the final Boom card.
- write what the character is wearing.
Like mentioned, there are differentiated pages: with the picture and the prompt question only, with the labelled picture and the prompt question, and with the labelled picture and a text with blanks for students to fill out with the colors they used.
If you prefer your students to write on their journals, you can get the digital component of this resource directly from the Boom website:

For the complete resource, check it out on TpT:

Your students will be begging you to let them use these digital cards and they’ll be working hard on their writing without even noticing it!
Hope your students get tons of writing practice with this French writing center!
