Can students improve reading comprehension without reading? Of course not! You and I know that, right?
But we also know that keeping kids interested in reading activities might be a challenge.
So how do we keep them engaged?
Check out this set of French winter reading comprehension worksheets to find out how.
French Winter Reading comprehension
True reading comprehension comprises two things: understanding what is in the text and also what is not.
Students should be paying attention to words in context and the meaning of the text, and they should be able to answer comprehension questions as well.
If we can help them improve reading fluency, that’s a plus!
These French Winter Reading Comprehension Worksheets will make your students:
- work on recognizing and using high-frequency vocabulary in context. They’ll be cutting and pasting high-frequency words to fill in the blanks in the text.
- use critical thinking to decide which words to use to fill each blank.
- read the text closely to answer multiple choice questions. They have to go back to the text in order to answer the questions.
- improve reading fluency by reading the text multiple times. They’ll be coloring one circle at a time for each complete reading they do, preferably out loud (by themselves or to a partner).
- work on fine motor skills by cutting, pasting, and coloring.

This French winter set includes 15 texts (in two differentiated versions) with winter-themed topics: snow, hot chocolate, ice-fishing, and so on.
There are two versions of each text. One of the versions is slightly more difficult so you can differentiate the activity.
These sheets are great for literacy centers and even for guided reading.
Not sure how your students would like them?
