It’s almost wintertime and that means a lot more time spend indoors. Kids might get restless, so how about a fun activity that is also very educational? Check out this winter-themed set of French winter color by sound worksheets!
This is a color-by-code resource, but it’s also French phonics practice.
Read on to learn more about this engaging activity that you can use as extra practice or review. You might even add these sheets to a sub folder.
French Winter Color by Sound
This resource focuses on recognizing graphemes, i.e. the way the sounds are represented in writing.
They color a sound and all the words containing that sound the same color.
For example, the sound pl is purple in the example below, so kids need to color the word “plume” purple because it contains the sound “pl”.
Check out the image below to see what I mean.
By following the code at the top of the page, your students will color the parts of the drawing to reveal the hidden image.
I’ve included a variety of sounds, such as some r-blends, some l-blends, ou, on, oi, c dur, c doux, g dur, g doux, gn, au, eau, ch, and many more graphemes.
There are eight worksheets that are perfect for independent centers. By the way, there are also answer keys, so students can check their own work.
