Keep your students engaged with this French Christmas lapbook!
They might get restless during the holiday season, so give them an activity that will keep them focused.
In addition, parents and the whole family will love to see what their kiddos made in school for Christmas!
French Christmas Lapbook
Lapbooks include different foldable paper pieces.
If your students are older, they might be able to create all the mini-books, pockets, and other pieces in one day.
However, I recommend doing a task a day so that kids can have a complete lapbook in about a week or so.
Regardless of deciding to do it in one day or a week, I highly recommend that you create a sample lapbook first for two reasons:
- to understand how to create the pieces and see how long each one takes
- to provide a model for students to visualize the end result
You can also choose to skip on making a lapbook and have students add the interactive paper pieces.
If making a lapbook, each student will need one file folder to start with and the lapbook cover.
Check out this Slideshare to see how to fold the file folder:
There are sorting pockets where students should insert the gifts (nouns) into the right pockets (definite articles).
Check out the picture below.
There’s another sorting activity for students to decide if a piece of information relates to Santa Claus or to one of his helping elves.
For example, one tab might have “Il est petit” and students should realize that this refers to an elf (picture below).
There are also 3 books: 2 mini-books and 1 flap-book (the bottom half of the picture above)
Below is one of the mini-books: “Qu’est-ce que tu vois?”
Folding these mini-books is fun and simple.
Check out the Slideshare below to learn how to fold one mini-book:
