Farm animals in French? What’s a better time to teach this topic than spring?
Check out a fun farm-animals-themed Slideshare in French and a set of scrambled sentences!
There are many videos that can help your kids learn the new words. My previous post includes some that might interest you: French Spring Videos and Resources.
But I always like to make students practice two or more things at the same time if possible.
So I’ve come up with this SlideShare quiz that focuses on farm animals in French AND prepositions of place, e.g. devant, entre, derrière, etc.
If you’re unfamiliar with SlideShare, don’t worry – you don’t need to sign up or anything. It’s pretty much like YouTube for presentations. Of course, you’re welcome to subscribing and following my brand-new For French Immersion Slideshare profile as I plan to use the site to share fun quizzes and presentations.
You can “watch” it here on this post or you can head over to SlideShare to “watch” it there: Les animaux de la ferme – où sont-ils?

Instructions to use the “Farm Animals in French” + prepositions quiz
The quiz can be projected on a screen, or seen on an iPad. It can be used as a whole-group activity or in smaller groups, such as reading intervention.
You can have students write their answers on mini-whiteboards or on their notebooks. It’s really up to you. You can even add some movement to it by having them stand up and form groups according to the answer they believe to be right.
For each question, there are three alternatives. Students should select the right answer.
As an extension activity, after you’ve gone through all six questions, you can go back picture by picture and challenge students to find other ways to describe the scenes.
As a follow-up writing task, you can have them write about their favorite farm animal.
And if you’d like your students to improve their sentence structure skills, be sure to check out my French Farm Animals Sentence Builders.
Scramble the cards and have students figure out the correct order in which the words make up a sentence. This activity is also known as “scrambled sentences” or “phrases mêlées”.
Merci beaucoup!
